ALABAMA CENSUS 1830 M - W
Recently a spelling question was brought to my attention. (See "Letter From
Your Historian"
) Upon reviewing the 1830 census microfilm copy of the original,
to the transcribed typed version, there were some misinterpretations. Also,
something that was not caught the first time it was transcribed.
If you look at the name of Sheald, you see "0" across the whole column.
That is because this family was under the column of "Free Colored Persons". I
am investigating this to see if it was an African American family or of they were
a family of Seneca Indians that were living off the reservation. This families
stats are at the bottom of the page.
Spelling corrections will be highlighted in bold, and also with a possible
alternative spelling if it was too hard to detect.
